Raising a generation of Christians to share the Word of Life

A world-wide partnership supporting gospel work in Gqeberha

Our Vision

Eastern Cape Gospel Partnership was formed in 2009 as a supporters network for the planting of a church at Nelson Mandela University under the banner of the REACH South Africa network of churches. Word of Life church started on campus but then added a building in Central and is now beginning a work in Walmer township. Our supporters include churches and individuals in South Africa, Australia and England.

On-Campus Ministry

Nelson Mandela University has up to 25,000 students across its campuses, many looking for spiritual and social connection. In addition to a church gathering on Sunday nights there are frequent camps, Bible-studies and prayer-meetings to reach the ever-changing body of students in the lecture halls and residences of NMU.

Ministry Apprenticeships

One of the key strategies of Word of LIfe is the raising up and training of university students for ministry. A significant portion of ECGP funding over the years has been directed to part-time wages and accommodation for apprentices.

Church at Central

One of the big turning points for Word of Life church was the purchase of a building in Central, where many students of the university find accommodation. There is now a church service every Sunday morning attended by students and a mix of other people, along with kids church, and many other events.

“Though we may never meet in person, your impact has reached across distance and touched our lives profoundly. I pray one day we’ll celebrate together in glory, rejoicing over every life that was changed because you chose to give. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus.”

— Hermosa, Computer Science Student at Nelson Mandela University
